A free counselling service is helping local people through a process of being released from the burden of debt.
Over the last three years, 36 individuals or families have been helped by the Market Rasen Centre of CAP (Christians Against Poverty), an award winning charity with more than 250 debt centres nationwide.
Local volunteer and trained debt coach, Estelle Forsythe said: “The service is completely free, confidential and non-judgemental.
“Clients often comment how relieved they feel once they’ve got over the hurdle of making the initial phone call”.
The CAP debt counselling service is free to users and supported nationally by local churches, including ones here in Market and Middle Rasen.
Estelle, from Market Rasen New Life Church, added: “Anyone can apply for help and support - people don’t have to be Christians to ask for help.
“There is a whole host of reasons why people get into debt - job loss, sudden illness, unexpected expenditure, divorce, bereavement, spiralling interest charges - but it’s good to know free and professional help is available locally.”
Confidential home visits are arranged for people who want to receive support and help.
