For Queen and for Country at Caistor

Caistor Town Council and the Caistor Goes... committee joined forces to light a beacon as part of the nationwide chain celebrating the Queen’s 90 birthday on Thursday.

High above the town on Riby Road, the beacon was lit by town mayor Carol Mackenzie and Roger Patterson, vice chairman of West Lindsey District Council.

“Once again, Caistor has done us proud,” said Coun Patterson.

On Saturday, thoughts turned to St George, as Caistor and District Lions Club hosted their annual St George’s Day Concert to an appreciative audience in the Town Hall.

The ResDev Market Rasen Band opened the concert, followed by patriotic songs by English composers, sung by Caistor Ladies Choir.

The evening finished with plenty of flag-waving and rousing choruses of Land of Hope and Glory and the National Anthem.

During the interval, visitors enjoyed a sausage and mash supper and, in honour of the Queen’s birthday, Sandra Wood had made a celebratory cake, which was cut by the Lions and given to visitors as they left. To see more pictures visit www.marketrasenmail.co.uk.
