North Lincolnshire Council and Brigg Business Partnership combined to hold a hugely successful food festival promoting Brigg, an event linked to the town’s award winning farmers market.
And one local businessman making the most of the occasion was celebrity chef Nigel Brown, who was cooking up some tasty dishes outside The Angel.
“This is a fabulous market which attracts lots of producers to sell their products,” he said. “It’s all about the best quality in local foods and a service with a smile.”
Despite the wet start it was action all the way, with additional stalls in the Market Place and along Wrawby Street creating a fantastic street market in the centre of town.
There was plenty to keep children interested and amused too, with high jinks from Earthbound Misfits.
Chairman of the Brigg Business Partnership Malcolm Bailey said: “It is good to see so many Brigg people enjoying the ‘Festival’ despite the weather. There is plenty of entertainment to keep the children amused. We want to encourage people to come into the town to events like this and there should be plenty to attract them through the summer.”
Brigg Farmers’ Market started in June 2000 and is now considered to be one of the best in the country.
And it has recently won the Farm Shop and Deli Awards Market of the Year 2014, which was collected last month at the Farm Shop and Deli Show in the NEC from BBC2’s Nigel Barton.
