Field fire starters sought by police

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fire in a wheat field.

The fire was started deliberately at the edge of the field close to the sewage works on Grimsby Road in Binbrook last Wednesday, August 18.

The farmer reported four youths had been seen the day before removing pallets and wood from a shed and using them to build a dam across a stream.

The farmer had removed the items from the water and stacked them in a corner of the field, where unknown offenders ignited them at around midday.The fire was extinguished before damage was caused to the crops.
