CQC praise for Caistor's '˜good' care homes

Glebe House and Middlegate Lodge have both been rated ‘good’ across the board by the Care Quality Commission.

In its latest report on Glebe House, the CQC – which regulates health and care services – praised staff for being ‘knowledgeable about how they met residents’ specific needs’.

And the report said staff ‘interact positively with people’, and support them with their own interests and hobbies.

Residents told inspectors staff were ‘very caring’.

And inspectors highlighted the fact that some members of staff chose to visit people on their day off so they could support them in doing their favourite activities.

The CQC praised Middlegate Lodge for ‘motivating people to believe in their own self-worth’ and for ‘respecting and praising people for their achievements’.

And here, residents told the CQC staff were ‘fantastic’.

The CQC said: “Activities were kept very flexible, so they could be provided when people wanted to do them, including in the evening.”

The CQC was impressed that people with poor literacy skills were given important documents in an ‘easy pictorial format’, so they could have access to material that would help them improve their wellbeing.

Glebe House and Middlegate Lodge service manager Jan Willis said she was pleased with the outcome of both inspections.

She said: “I am so pleased that the people we support continue to enjoy living in our homes and learn so much from their time with us.”

And Ms Willis added: “I hope this continues.”

Glebe House is located in South Dale, and Middlegate Lodge is in the town’s Horncastle Road.

Both are managed by Craegmoor, part of the healthcare specialists Priory Group.

Craegmoor chief executive officer Sarah Hughes said: “Glebe House and Middlegate Lodge have always been proactive in helping the people they support to undertake activities they enjoy and help them develop key life skills.

“We are delighted that the CQC has identified their strong, friendly and supportive relationships with people as a real strength.”
