Concert to launch the Poppy Appeal
This year’s Brigg Area Poppy Appeal will be launched with a concert on Saturday, October 27, in St John’s Church in Bigby Street.
The concert will feature Lys St Georges, who perform music from around the world on a variety of instruments, and the Caistor and District Male Voice Choir.
The concert starts at 7pm and tickets cost £5, which includes light refreshments, which are available from Maureen Glossop, Honorary Poppy Appeal Organiser, on 01652 656744.
This popular event helps raise money for the appeal, which totalled £17,400 last year in Maureen’s area.
“I would like to express my gratitude to all volunteers who are selling poppies this year,” said Maureen.
“Almost all of the sessions in Brigg stores are now covered, but if anyone would like to help and are available between 12 pm and 3pm or 3pm and 6pm, then please contact me.”
The area covered also includes Wrawby, Scawby and Hibaldstow, where Maureen has excellent teams of collectors and sellers who help make the appeal so successful.
