The condition of a road leading into Market Rasen is an accident waiting to happen, a resident fears.
Derek Walker reported a collapsed drain outside his Walesby Road home to the county’s Highways department more than six months ago.
“I rang again in September and again two weeks ago, when a hole developed beside it.
“It could be devastating if a cyclist or biker went into it - we have already had one fatality locally.”
The area is marked with a cone, but Mr walker added recent winds have meant this is not always in place and he has repeatedly had to put it back.
Steve Wiles, Area Highways Manager at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “This is actually a sunken drain cover, rather than a pothole.
“We were made aware of it last year and added it onto the highway maintenance programme with a view to fixing it in September.
“Unfortunately, the work was delayed due to other competing demands, but I’m pleased to confirm it’s been rescheduled for completion in early March.
“Although the drain cover needs repair, it’s clearly marked with a road cone and so isn’t considered to present a serious risk to road users.”
