A Market Rasen woman has become a winner thanks to the Lincolnshire Trading Standards scam sharing competition.

Elaine Greasley’s 84-year-old mother was being targeted by cold callers, so Elaine reported the scams to the service.

And her prize is a TrueCall machine which blocks unwanted calls.

“My mum didn’t know when to pick up the phone and when not, so this call blocker will make a big difference for her, because she will now know that all of her calls are genuine.”

She received her prize from Principal Trading Standards Officer Tim Dawson.

“Scammers keep coming up with new ways to deceive unsuspecting residents, especially the elderly and vulnerable, into thinking it’s their lucky day,” said Mr Dawson.

“The scams may seem very sincere and appealing but it is important residents know how to spot these scams, which would normally leave you out of pocket.

“There is no shame in falling for a scam – it is fraud carried out by organised criminals. Please report it to us and help us to keep residents money in their own pockets.”
