Community groups urged to apply for volunteer pot funds

COMMUNITY groups in Market Rasen and across West Lindsey are being encouraged to apply for funding from the Community Action and Volunteering Fund (CAV).

West Lindsey District Council set up the fund to give community groups an opportunity to pay for small improvements to community assets and invest in local activities - £200,000 will be available in small grants, of up to £250, until 2014.

“It’s not just the larger towns and villages that can apply for this funding, it is also some of the smaller groups that need vital funds for their projects,” said council leader Coun Burt Keimach, who is eager to see more groups to apply for the funding.

One group to take advantage of the volunteer funding pot was Market Rasen Station Adoption Group, who received £250 towards the cost of their latest art project.

“We were delighted with how easy it was to apply - it was so straightforward and beneficial that we have already applied for a further grant,” said group secretary Martin Barnard.

To apply for a grant contact Jenny Stone at Community Lincs on 01529 301951 or email cav.fund@communitylincs.com
