West Rasen Heritage Centre and Village Hall is the latest group to benefit from Lincolnshire Co-op’s Community Champions scheme.

The centre, along with Bishop Norton Village Hall, was the chosen charity for the last quarter of 2013.

And shoppers showed their support by raising £529.28 through the scheme, which sees a donation made to a nominated local charity or group every time a Co-op member shops and uses their dividend card.

“I have to admit, when it was first mentioned I thought we wouldn’t get anything,” said centre chairman John Bennett.

“But we are absolutely delighted now - the money will make a real difference to our small group.”

Community liaison representative for the Co-op’s Market Rasen store Helen Martin went along to make the presentation to John and secretary Liz Margrave.

“The money will be used to repaint the outside of the building,” said Liz.

To find out more about how the Community Champions scheme could help your group, call into the Co-op store and pick up an application form.
