Sir Edward Leigh meets members of Market Rasen Gun Club

Rasen MP Sir Edward Leigh visited Market Rasen’s Small Bore Shooting Club, after it received £4,450 from Sport England to develop its facilities.

The club seeks new premises as it currently uses a leaky 1946 Anderson shelter, likely to fall down in a few years, says the club’s Dave Carter.

The MP was given a copy of a speech he gave in 1996 opposing the pistol bans introduced after Dunblane and Hungerford shootings. Sir Edward said he would help the club win funding from various bodies. While many gun clubs have closed, Market Rasen’s developed strong links with schools and will run crossbow groups on Monday evenings from September.
