The Town Council is joining with Market Rasen Lions to put on a show to celebrate local talent – be it music, theatre, performance, dancing or party pieces.

Auditions for a place in the Spectacular Talent Show will be held in August and there will be a panel of judges from the Town Council and the Lions to make the final decision on the acts going forward to take part in the show on October 1.

“We want to hear from all those who are keen to have their moment on stage in the spotlight,” said Nicola Marshall, who is co-ordinating the event.

“Make sure you put the date in your diary.

“This is a free public event for the town and a chance to come together and have fun.

“It is also a chance for us to show off the new stage lighting at the Festival Hall, which will have been installed by then, so there will be plenty of spotlights for the stars to shine in.”

The event also coincides with a new cultural event being organised by West Lindsey in both Market Rasen and Caistor.

The cultural event will take place from mid-afternoon and will feature first-of-a-kind acts, including street theatre, comedy and music.

“It will be vibrant, noisy, fun and for all ages,” said Nicola.

“The day will end with a light and sound finale around 7.30pm, so stay in town for the talent show, which will start at 8pm.

“There will be more updates on the WLDC event, but we want to give a quick heads-up.”

The Cultural Event will feature national and international professional acts, but it is also about showcasing local talent and involving community cultural groups, schools, young people and the wider community.
