Volunteers sought for hospital car service

A FREE Home from Hospital service for elderly or vulnerable people is now available in the Market Rasen area for people returning home from hospital, intermediate or rehabililative care.

The scheme, run by the WRVS, offers a short term, confidential and friendly service to help older people get more out of life. A trained volunteer is placed with a client for between 4 - 6 weeks and offers help with tasks including shopping, transportation to doctors or hospital appointments.

The service has been in operation for more than a year, during which more than 120 clients in the Horncastle and Louth and Mablethorpe areas have been helped.

Recently the WRVS has had several referrals in Market Rasen so would like to increase their volunteers locally so they can easily place someone with each client.

Volunteers will be given training and would only have to comit to one or two volunteering times each week.

If anyone thinks the scheme can help them or for people interested in volunteering they can contact Chris Long on 01507 608433.
