River clearance to help flooding risk
For the full story see this week's Market Rasen Mail - Out now
The risk of flooding to homes and businesses near rivers in Lincolnshire is being reduced.
The Environment Agency is currently removing weed growth from the River Ancholme, near Market Rasen, before moving on to other watercourses in the area.
An excavator is being used to remove the weed – which can slow the flow of water and increase the risk of flooding – upstream of Bishop Bridge, near the market town.
Growth is also being removed from a nearby land drain between Worlaby and Horkstow.
