Hat trick of awards for Ludford pub

Tuesday 11am A RASEN area village pub has received the Tastes of Lincolnshire Pub Award, making it a hat-trick of recognition in less than six months.

Originally from Lancashire, Anna and Paul Reed bought the Black Horse at Ludford 18 months ago and since then have been offering a seasonal menu of locally sourced produce.

Having worked in the pub trade for a number of years, this is the couple's first venture on their own. They were happy to move to Lincolnshire when the freehold of the Black Horse became available, as they were aware of 'the plethera of produce' available.

"We are very happy to be recognised for our efforts" said Anna.

"We believe in paying slightly more for our ingredients to produce better quality and by sourcing this locally it also means the ingredients are fresher".

Anna and Paul offer high quality rustic food at lunchtimes and evenings.

Last September, the pub was included in the Michelin Eating Out in Pubs Guide and then in January this year they received an entry in the even more prestigious Michelin Red Guide for 2010.

To be included in the Michelin Guides you have to have impressed an anonymous food critic, so inclusion is indeed a great honour and is seen as a sign of true quality.
