Cherry Valley sold to Thai company

Thursday 3pm Caistor's largest employer, Cherry Valley Farms, has been sold to a Thai company/

The Nickerson Group Rothwell (TNGR), which owns Cherry Valley, announced that it has reached agreement to sell 100 per cent of the Eeuity of Cherry Valley Farms Limited (CVF) to Bangkok Ranch Public Company Limited (BR).

CVF is the leading supplier of livestock to the duck industry worldwide and, in recent years, has established a dominant market share in China which represents over 80 per cent of the worlds production of Ducks.

Cherry Valley is also the leading supplier of frozen duck to the Chinese segment in the UK from its processing factory in Lincolnshire and a recent entrant into the retail market for fresh product.

BR is a leading processor of ducks based in Thailand and a longstanding customer for CVF livestock.

BR has a substantial market share in Thailand and a growing business exporting cooked duck to the UK and other European Markets; it participates in the market for frozen duck in continental Europe through its Dutch subsidiary Duck to Holding.

The companies have signed an agreement, the deal will close at the end of March 2010.
