Biomass plan turned down by councillors
PLANS for a biomass renewable energy demonstration project and seven living and working units at Harpswell, have been refused by councillors at West Lindsey.
Officials had recommended acceptance of the project which, if approved, would have seen the building of a single storey boiler house and demonstration room and seven two-storey live and work units at Church Farm in the village.
The boiler would have been fuelled by chipping three/four year old willow from an already established 32 acre area of rotated willow, and would have provided heating and hot water to both the farmhouse and the live/work units, with the possibility of extending it to include other buildings in the village, such as the church.
A meeting room would have provided facilities to demonstrate the scheme and for the live/work occupiers to have meetings, while the live/work units would have provided living accomodation for seven families and linked space for business use.
The applicant, Geoff Kealey, declined to talk about his plans following the refusal.
