Award for local veterinary nurse
Tuesday 10am MARKET Rasen veterinary nurse Tracy Kind is celebrating after getting top marks in the UK for a specialist exam.
Tracy, who qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2002 and works at Lincs Veterinary Solutions based in the town, took the AMTRA exams for the Suitably Qualified Person qualification and came out ahead of all other entrants.
To prepare for the exams, she attended two block courses at Lincoln University, supplemented by home study. She also completed a project on Endoparasites and their control in sheep last June and then took the exams in July.
"Undertaking the SQP qualification has given me a far deeper understanding of the parasites affecting farm animals and equines which Lincs Veterinary Solutions covers," she said.
"I can now stock, prescribe and supply certain products for these animals and to members of the public for their pets. It's made my job more varied and has also been beneficial for the practice."
Tracy added she was delighted to be told she had scored top marks in the country and she couldn't stop smiling when she heard the news.
Jefrey Chakwenya, veterinary surgeon and Tracy's boss said: "Tracy's results are fantastic recognition of the hard work she put into the exams.
"We are delighted. Now that she is a fully qualified SQP it enables us to provide an additional service to our clients."
