Letter: More coverage of local court cases please

EDITOR – There's many local folk out here in Caistor and the surrounding area's that love nothing more than the Wednesday coming around each and every week so they can purchase their Market Rasen Mail to read what's been going on and who's been doing what.

Yet alas there are certain things of great importance that have slipped through the net of our MRM, and while giving you "Editor's Note" with regard to my letter asking "Why" the Headmaster Roger Hale of Caistor Grammar School wasn't reported in the MRM, for his speeding offence came as a rather poor excuse to the many people who I have spoken to on this particular matter.

But, I am afraid to say that even this rates as "Pure Insignificance" compared once again to another missed piece of news by the MRM in which another newspaper reported on the Tuesday, August 3, 2010, tucked away at the bottom of page five.

"Caretaker is accused of filming up skirts of primary school girls."

Now while this story, I do believe, should of been front page, it was still reported, so I guess that's something to be thankful for, wouldn't you say Mr Editor?,

But not reporting this at all beggars believe, because haven't the people a right to know and kept aware of What is going on around them?.

And the reason I say this, people aren't daft and they are far from stupid and that's why they are beginning to ask in no uncertain terms.

Is it not a sign of a good journalist to scan papers and court listings to find local stories, or are they just selective in what they print, because remember in this day and age of the computer hasn't one all the information at one's finger tips?

MR N HOBLYN

Caistor
