Border control
EDITOR – Much as I value your paper, I think I should point out that it is not setting a good example to have glaring spelling errors on the front page.
Even given the well-known drop in educational standards, to have the sentence: ‘We boarder an Area of Outstanding of Outstanding Natural Beauty’.
As you know, a ‘boarder’ means a lodger, and what Ms Fender was no doubt striving for was ‘border’, meaning a frontier area (Wednesday, April 18 edition).
However, don’t despair, one sees this sort of thing in national daily papers quite regularly so you are not alone.
I’m sure you’d like to put a stop to it all the same. May I recommend an old-fashioned proof reader?
