Amazed at resignations
EDITOR - As a former member and chairman of Caistor Town Council, I was amazed at the news of the resignations of the mayor, the clerk and other long serving councillors and the allegations surrounding those resignations.
Whatever the personal differences of councillors during my time on the council we were always able to put these aside and conduct our business in the best interests of the people who elected us and with respect for each others views.
I do not live in the town any more, but I have taken a great deal of interest in the progress that has been made since I left and have been taken aback by what has happened.
It is about time that councillors remembered why they are there and who put them there - that is if they were actually elected and are not on the council by default - and act in a manner that is befitting of the privileged position that they hold and not like a schoolyard bully.
The new mayor needs to get an immediate grip on this and get on with the job of representing the people of the town.
Either that or have an election for the whole Council and let the electorate decides what they want.
