Letters & Opinion
Despair turned to satisfaction
EDITOR – Shouts of despair and condemnation with an inner rage may well of been the initial reaction to all those whose eyes fell upon the front page headline ‘Uncovered: Where your £4.2m went’ – Market Rasen Mail, Wednesday, February 8.
Gates at entrance will show respect for dead
EDITOR – Re Cemetery Gates letter by Mrs W Blanchard (Letters page, Feb 1 2012).
Service carries on regardless
EDITOR – I wish to assure, not only Stuart R Hogg but all residents of the Middle Rasen, Osgodby, North Owersby and West Rasen communities, that despite Coun Geoff Wiseman’s temporary absence from the parish council meetings, the communication train is still very much in operation.
Jubilee Wood fit for a Queen
Editor– On the lovely part of the Lincolnshire Wolds between Cabourne and Swallow, there is a plantation of trees known locally as Jubilee Wood which commemorates the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria.
Open invitation to businesses
We spend time presenting and displaying our goods and services to create a pleasurable experience within our shops, pubs, cafes, accommodation and restaurants.
Consultancy fees should match the nature of the job
EDITOR – It is the norm for professional consultants to charge fees anywhere from £300 (UK average) per day up to thousands per day.
Monetary mismanagement
EDITOR – In response to your article about consultants and the council, it seems that to spend that sort of money on a consultant is surely total mismanagement by the council. If the workload is only one and a half people it should be easy enough for the clerk to carry out an assessment of workload.
Give our station decent facilities
EDITOR – Over a year ago I contacted one of our town councillors regarding the lack of disabled toilet facilities at the station.
Another option for officers’ pay
EDITOR – When reading the Rasen Mail’s reports on local politics, I wonder whether those of a political bent, whatever their make or shape, are occupying a parallel universe to the rest of us.
Dogs’ mess a real problem
EDITOR – I totally agree with Mr Neal (last week’s Market Rasen Mail) that I am tired of dodging dog mess.
Councillor’s only trying to serve his voters
EDITOR – I was most disappointed to read of Geoff Wiseman’s suspension from West Lindsey District Council.
No pool, but a warm welcome please
EDITOR – Reference the request for resident comment, in no particular order:
Cemetery gates
EDITOR – Re the Neighbourhood Plan: I think it would be a good idea to have new gates at the cemetery on Legsby Road, which could be locked at night.
Time to apologise?
EDITOR – In reply to Mr A Jones (18/01/12), I wish to express my views on his comments regarding Beverley of Touches letter published 11/01/12.
Another plea to clean up mess
EDITOR – I am not sure if this will get put in the paper, but I am a resident of Anglian Way and have been for the last 13 years and I am sick and tired of cleaning up people’s DOG MESS in the public footpath that leads from Anglian Way to Willingham Road.
Time for the voice of the people to be heard
EDITOR – I have just had the great privilege of recently viewing the film The Titfield Thunderbolt, written in defiance regarding the destruction of the rural railways by Dr Beeching, where the entire community is united in saving the branch line to save their village and way of life.
