Young Market Rasen mum Katy Bates has raised an impressive £500 for charity by having her head shaved.
The 20-year-old made the brave decision after being diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease last year.
She said: “One of the side effects of the medication I have to take is hair loss, so I am showing my Crohn’s I am in control by getting it shaved off now.”
And that is just what she did on Friday, with the help of Union Street hairdresser Rachel Ellis.
The close shave was witnessed by Katy’s two-year-old son Alfie and other members of her family.
“Everyone has been very supportive and I am very pleased to have raised around £450 for the Crohn’s and Colitis UK charity through sponsorship for my head shave,” said Katy.
But this amount was brought up to the £500 mark by generous hairdresser Rachel.
“Katy has been through so much and I am pleased to support her,” said Rachel.
And there is still time to support Katy in her bid to raise money to support others with inflammatory bowel disease.
