Jubilee celebrations will be sparkling

BRIGG looks set to celebrate next year’s Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in style.

At a Brigg Town Council meeting councillors considered what celebrations would suit the town.

One idea was a display of photographs that could link back to Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee or to 1952 when the present Queen’s reign began and her 1953 coronation.

Coun Rob Waltham wants to get schools involved and Coun Alec Depledge said the town’s churches were already having discussions on how they might jointly celebrate the occasion.

And Coun Ann Eardley would like the council to produce commemorative mugs.

Councillors agreed unanimously that there should be formal celebrations in the town to celebrate the event.
