A CHARITY golf day at the Market Rasen club attracted 148 players in 37 teams.

This was the third such annual event organised by Market Rasen Rotary Club, who were delighted with the turn-out and support they had received.

The winning team, with 94 points, came from Market Rasen Golf Club – Colin Croft, Mel Gregory, Stuart Honey, Darren Turner.

In second place, on 90 points, were Stan Forth, G Dring, P Bentley and G Fenn, all from Lincoln Golf Club, and in third, on 88 points, was a mixed team of M Gray (Normanby Hall), S Steeples (Market Rasen), S Graves (Sleaford) and T Marshall (Sleaford).

Nearest the pin on the fifth hole went to John Harris of Elsham, and Ken Squires of Sleaford was nearest the pin on the 18th.

The fun putting competition was won by Terry Sayles.

It is anticipated the event will have raised just over £3,000 for the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance.

Thanks go to the many sponsors who helped to offset the costs of staging the event.

As well as an overall sponsor for the event, Lincoln Audi, there was also a sponsor for each of the 18 holes played – Trailers R Us; K & W Contractors; De Aston School; Wilkin Chapman Grange, Solicitors; The Gift Horse; Perkins, George Mawer & Co; Caistor Windows; Cherry Valley; Lincolnshire Motors; Jackson Building Centres; Market Rasen Physiotherapy & Sports; Injuries Clinic; Rase Steels; M.A. Woodall & Partner, Haulage; Park View Garage; Peter Rhodes; Nicholsons Accountants; E-quip; Ian Penniston Roofing.

Famous Grouse also sponsored part of the day, while sustenance at the halfway house was supplied by Pipers Crisps, Tesco and Lincolnshire Co-op.
