A village community has spent 250,000 pennies so visitors can spend one in comfort.

The latest stage in a project aimed at upgrading Moot Hall in Holton le Moor was the overhaul of the toilets and installation of new disabled and baby changing facilities.

The hall is unique in Lincolnshire and is well known locally for its quirky design and unique feel.

However, its dated toilets were letting it down and the management committee decided it was time for an upgrade.

A total of £10,000 in grants was obtained from the Big Lottery Fund and West Lindsey’s Community Asset Fund, with a further £5,000 raised through a variety of events, including ploughing matches, garden fetes and fashion shows.

Work was completed by RED Security & Hardware, based in Grimsby, which has sympathetically incorporated the modern facilities into the much-loved hall.

Jonathan Gibbons, chairman of the Moot Hall management committee, said “We are really pleased with the new, clean look of the toilets. We feel they have massively enhanced the building.”

To experience the toilets first hand, join the residents of Holton le Moor for their Christmas dinner on Sunday, December 13.
