WELL-known philanthropist Hugh Bourn has been recognised in the New Year’s Honours.
The Wragby farmer-turned-property developer will receive the OBE for his charitable services and for services to the community in Lincolnshire.
Mr Bourn, who has spent the last year as president of the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society, said how proud he was to receive the honour.
“I get a lot of pleasure in giving money to charities which I think are genuine, especially to the blind.
“It seems a terrible thought to me that there would be even one blind person out there that’s not being cared for.
“The Lincoln and Lindsey Blind Society, Orbis and Sightsavers are among my favourite charities.
