Rotary Ladies give Hope for Tomorrow

Hope for Tomorrow, the charity that funds the units, has been the Ladies’ charity of the year and last week regional fundraiser Dawn Osko went along to collect £1,000 from the group.

A further £1,000, including £500 from the Rotary Foundation, had been sent earlier.

“Thank you for this amazing amount of money,” said Dawn.

“Although we are a national charity, the money can be allocated to a local unit and that is what we will do for this money.”

The money will be used to fund four bespoke cabinets on board the Lincolnshire unit – called Elaine – for wall-mounted pumps, which give the chemotherapy more efficiently.

Hope for Tomorrow works in partnership with the NHS and Dawn was able to confirm recent staffing issues have now been resolved.

“The unit is back in action and is currently spending one day a week at Grantham and one day in Skegness. From October, it will also do one day in Louth.”

The Rotary Ladies’ chosen charity for the coming year is Headway, which works to improve life after brain injury.

Their first fundraising event will be at the open gardens and summer fair in Market Rasen on Saturday, August 6, when they will be serving refreshments in the Festival Hall.
