Nordic walk your way to fitness

STRIDE out with a new group being launched by North Lincolnshire Council.

Improve your fitness levels easily and cheaply by learning the Nordic walking technique, one of the fastest-growing fitness activities in the world.

The walks are led by qualified Nordic walking leaders, starting at various locations across North Lincolnshire.

Nordic walking benefits everybody, from those with medical problems to the super fit.

There are two major benefits; the poles help to propel the walker along, meaning you will work harder but the support makes it feel easier, and, secondly, upper-body muscles are used as well as the legs.

Once you have learned the technique you will be able to walk alone, with friends and family, or with one of the council’s led walks.

“The council are putting together lots of new and exciting ways to keep fit and Nordic walking is one of them,” said Coun David Robinson, lead member for Sport, Leisure and Culture.

“Whatever your goal, whether it be improving fitness levels, weight loss or helping with a medical condition, then Nordic walking may be for you.”

If you want to give Nordic walking a go, telephone Michelle Spacey on 01724 297280 or 07717 588192.
