Market Rasen Children’s Centre has been making sure everyone knows how to have fun and stay safe near water.
Using activities and resources provided by the Royal Lifesaving Society UK, the centre supported Drowning Prevention Week.
And joining in the events were children from Market Rasen Pre-School who went along to feed the ducks and talked about keeping safe near water.
“Shockingly drowning is the third highest cause of accidental death in children in the UK,” said Angela Pettit, Children’s Services Support Assistant. “Around 400 people drown in the UK each year, and thousands more suffer near-drowning experiences, many resulting in life changing injuries.
Various other activities took place during the week, including quizzes on child safety and an awareness campaign at the Tesco store.
“We would like to thank Market Rasen Primary School for allowing us to use their swimming pool for Parent and Baby/Toddler sessions.”
Another swimming course will begin in September and a free Community Life Support Course is also planned.
