West Lindsey District Council has joined forces with the Alzheimer’s Society to help communities become more dementia friendly.
The West Lindsey Dementia Action Alliance also includes Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, Lincolnshire Police, Voluntary Sector Services, the Carers Partnership, plus residents caring for dementia sufferers.
The alliance aims to bring people and agencies together to make sure those living with dementia remain independent and active in their communities for as long as possible.
WLDC ‘health champion, Caistor-based district councillor, Alan Caine, said: “There will be more and more people living with dementia in the future so we need to start preparing for that now. It is great that so many people have already committed to working together to help support people living with this condition and we urge local businesses, residents and organisation to get involved.”
Lincolnshire Police has announced it will give its officers dementia awareness training.
