Golf day for air ambulance was a fly away success story

The Rotary Club of Market Rasen recently held their fifth Annual Golf tournament at Market Rasen and District Golf Club.

There were 25 teams of four taking part in the competition, all helping to raise in the order of £2,300 for the Air Ambulance.

The third placed team of K Blankley, K Squires, Iain Poole and Tom Challenor, all from Sleaford.

“It was a fantastic day, in wonderful weather, raising a lot of money for an excellent cause, which any one of us could be grateful to in the future,” said Rotarian David Mason.

Overall competition winners, with 92 points, was a team principally from Boston - T Newton, M Jones, S Elkington and K Osbon.

In second place, on 91 points, was a mixed address team - R Pask, Belton Park; R Harris, Stoke Rochford; R Bryne, South Leeds; M Stacey, Halesworth - and in third was a Sleaford team of T Challoner, I Pool, D Blankley and K Squire.

Golf Club Secretary, and past Rotarian, John Smith won the putting competition, and many thanks go to him for his help organising the competition.

Finally, Nearest the pin winners were R Barker from Sudbrooke Moor and T Dale from Fulford.

Mole Country stores, whose own Charlotte Harper presented the prizes, were the major sponsors and local solicitors Bridge McFarland also supported the event strongly.

Tesco stores and Pipers Crisps provided snacks and drinks for the Halfway House break, very necessary on such a hot day.
