Going quackers for New Year event

Another successful New Year’s Day duck race was held in Middle Rasen, organised by the Football and Cricket Club,

Chairman Alan Pennell thanked all the sponsors and everyone who bought one of 1375 little yellow ducks, which went ‘swimmingly’ along the river from Parry Bridge to the Church Street Bridge.

The first duck home, and winning the £100 prize, was number 328 owned by Liam Entwistle.

In second place, winning £50, was number 1075 owned by Peter Appleyard and third, for £25, was number 189, owned by Molly Entwistle.

The last three ducks home each won £10 - 426 owned by Jim Wid, 1095 owned by Darren Salmon and 652 owned by Alastair Upton.

Following the race, people went to the Nags Head to enjoy mulled wine, mince pies, tea and coffee before the raffle of twenty prizes including biscuits, chocolates and wine with a final prize of a hot water bottle and cover.
