Get 2016 off to a ‘quacking’ start at the annual New Year’s Day duck race in Middle Rasen.

The event starts at 11am from Parry’s Bridge in Low Church Road and finishes 20 minutes or so later at the Church Street Bridge, next to Naylor’s Drive.

Ducks, priced at £1 each, can be purchased now from members of Middle Rasen Cricket and Association Football Club members, who organise the event, at the Crossroads Stores or The Nags Head in the village.

If the duck is in the first or last three at the finish it’s a winner.

Prizes this year are £100 for first place, £50 second and £25 third, with £10 each going to the last three ducks to finish.

Proceeds from the duck sales go to help fund local sport through the cricket and football club.
