Girl, 11, injured in crash is recovering well

AN 11-YEAR-OLD girl who suffered head injuries after a collision with a car in Brookenby is in a stable condition.

The girl, named locally as Donna Sleight, ended up in intensive care after a collision with a car in Swinhope Road on Monday, July 23.

Donna had been riding a bike at the time. A 49-year-old Brookenby man, driving a silver Volkswagen Passat, was not injured.

A statement on The Brookenby Village Facebook Group from Poppy Woodhouse says: “Just heard from Abi Sleight and except for minor injuries it looks like Donna Sleight is going to be fine. such a huge relief xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.”

Poppy goes on to say that Donna is being moved out of intensive care and other than a headache is “really well in herself”.

Many people are thrilled at the progress Donna has made and have posted comments on the site wishing her a speedy recovery.

Several residents are now calling for a reduction in the speed limit on Swinhope Road, from 60mph to 30mph.
