Shopping at Market Rasen’s Lincolnshire Co-op food store has proved to be very fruitful for two local good causes.

Mal Jones went along to collect dozens of oranges ahead of Sunday’s Christingle service in St Thomas’s Church, paid for thanks to the Co-op’s Community Champions.

Both the Children’s Society, which organises the service, and Market Rasen Children’s Christmas Tree Fund were awarded £978 each through the scheme, which included a 10 per cent bonus for choosing to have the money in shop vouchers.

“Many thanks to the Co-op for this scheme and to the shoppers who helped raise such a pleasing amount,” said Mr Jones, a sentiment echoed by Ron Myland from the tree fund.
