A Caistor school has been shortlisted in this year’s Select Lincolnshire Food, Drink & Hospitality Awards.

Lincolnshire Montessori is up against Lincoln Minster School and Manor House Stables at Martin for Teaching
Establishment of the Year - one of 14 categories in this year’s event.

“We are delighted to have been shortlisted,” said Director Theresa Ellerby.

“We have been shortlisted because of the nursery and school’s commitment to local food. In particular, our catering team work hard at sourcing local, seasonal produce for the kitchen where the vast majority of meals are made from scratch.

“The children are actively involved in snack and other food preparation, including nursery and primary children growing, harvesting, cooking and eating their own food.

“We feel this is an important lesson in self sufficiency, sustainability and the importance of a ‘grow your own’ approach - oh and it happens to be pretty tasty too.”

Also in the running for awards are Uncle Henrys at Grayingham - Producer of the Year, Tea Rooms of the Year and Retailers of the Year; The Grange East Barkwith - B&B of the Year; and, as previously reported, Pepperpot Tea Room at Hall Farm Park, South Kelsey - Tea Rooms of the Year

The awards ceremony takes place next Tuesday, February 3, at The White Heather, Caenby Corner.
