Firefighters from Wragby, Market Rasen and Lincoln have extinguished a large blaze at a disused chapel at Goltho.
Crews were called at around 5.45am this morning, Monday, 21 October, to the fire in the roof of the building.
St George’s is a redundant church, maybe used once a year, standing around 400 yards from the nearest road.
Firecrews could not easily gain access to the building because it is located at the end of a dirt track, thick with mud after heavy rain.
Two hose reels had to be run from tenders on the roadside to tackle the flames.
There is no electric in the church which is open to the public at all times. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
