Find out about adoption in Market Rasen

North East Lincolnshire Council’s Adoption team is holding an adoption information event at The Advocate Arms in Market Rasen next week to attract potential adoptive parents and bust some of myths surrounding the adoption process.

The event takes place on Tuesday, September 18, between 1pm and 8pm.

Making the decision to adopt is one of the biggest steps anyone can make; it can also be the most rewarding. Adoption is all about making a difference to a child’s life by providing a stable, loving and permanent home.

North East Lincolnshire Council is currently looking for adoptive parents for more than thirty children with a range of needs from the North East Lincolnshire area. There are currently a higher number of children that need adopting than there are adopters applying to the service.

The children include sibling groups of two and three children who need to stay together, children over the age of one, older children and children with specific health needs. All of these children have to be adopted outside of North East Lincolnshire due to the small mile radius the local authority covers.

Prospective adopters can apply to whichever adoption agency they require and are not restricted to their own local authority. If adopters choose to adopt with North East Lincolnshire’s adoption team they will be guaranteed to receive excellent support from a small committed and friendly team, with a wealth of experience.

The team offer excellent post adoption support and received an outstanding recent Ofsted report.

The council welcomes all applicants over the age of 21 years including:

Married couples or couples living together in a stable relationship

Same sex couples living together or in a civil partnership

Single applicants

Applicants from outside the North East Lincolnshire boundaries

Coun Ian Lindley, portfolio holder for people services, said: “There is no such thing as a typical adopter, North East Lincolnshire’s adoption team are keen to hear from people who have the commitment, energy, patience and understanding to meet the diverse needs of children and help them reach their full potential.

“We do not discriminate on the grounds of age, class, culture, disability, race or sexual orientation.”
