Year six children from Caistor Primary School and the Lincolnshire Montessori have been involved in a social history project at the Arts and Heritage Centre.
The project is part of Caistories which is capturing stories about what it has been like to live and work in the town and its surrounding villages over the past 100 years through its people, buildings and streets.
The primary school children have also been learning about biographies and they have interviewed and recorded local people and created biographies about their lives.
All the children also had the opportunity to go to the Lincoln Archives, where many felt inspired to explore their own family’s history.
Criminal records were also looked at, as well as maps of the growing town, pictures of the town’s schools and community buildings such as the Town hall.
Lincolnshire Montessori have carried out research into the Fleece Inn, which is now their school, visited the Media Archive for Central England at the University of Lincoln and taken part in a felt making workshop with Linda Matthews to produce pictures inspired by the famous Sheep Fair held in Caistor over the past years.
