Ready for the fray at De Aston

The annual display of schoolboy hilarity hit the high spots at Market Rasen's De Aston School garden fete in 1968.

Pictured are some of those who took part in the event, before they mounted two lorries for a preliminary tour of the town.

The event was opened by Miss A M Maiden of Saxilby.

Although mainly a money-making exercise, it always had a special feature.

In 1968, it was an archaeology exhibition, featuring Roman pottery found in Linwood Road.

Proceeds from the event went to the headmaster’s fund for extra-curricular activities.
