Caistor Board of Guardians from the 1920s

Caistor Board of Guardians, pictured above in about 1920, oversaw the work of the Poor Law Union.

The guardians were described as kindly, well-intentioned and compassionate people, who spoke up for and represented the elderly and infirm of the whole area.

But behind the guardians, of course, was Caistor Workhouse, which was regarded as a very dreadful home of last resort.

Do any of our readers recognise the faces of any of the guardians pictured?
