STAFF at a town store are gearing up to support the Cancer Research charity.

Headed up by community champion Jenny Stimson, 18 members of the Tesco staff will be taking part in this year’s Race for Life.

They will be stepping up to the start at the Meridian Park in Cleethorpes for the 5k challenge.

“We have more girls that want to do the race, but the Cleethorpes venue is fully booked now,” said Jenny.

The team is now looking for people to support them in its efforts.

“We would be pleased to hear from anyone who would like to sponsor us,” added Jenny.

Race for Life is the largest women-only fundraising event in the UK and sees women of all ages and fitness levels coming together to walk, jog or run to help beat cancer.

In 2011 Tesco will have been supporting Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life for ten years.

Since Race for Life began, in 1994, an incredible 5.4 million participants have raised more than £362 million to fund the work of researchers, doctors and nurses dedicated to helping.

To pledge your support for the Tesco team, call in to the store and visit the customer service desk.

“Whether it is a few pence or a few pounds we will be very grateful for the sponsorship.

“Every penny counts to support the work of this wonderful charity,” said Jenny.
