Market Rasen Rotary Club is branching out to help develop a new town facility.

At their recent meeting, they presented town mayor John Matthews with 420 sapling trees, which will form the basis of the planned arboretum for the De Aston field.

And volunteers are also on hand to plant the trees, when the time comes.

At the same meeting, Jeremy Newnham, Head of Caistor Yarborough Academy, gave a thought-provoking talk about the school, and how it is difficult for a school in a rural area, with pupils, many of whom have rural ambitions, to benefit from a nationwide education system which does not cater for minority (ie rural) activities.
