A developer wants to build 40 homes on a greenfield site in Hemswell Cliff - just 50 metres from a five-star wedding venue.

TWD Developments Limited has submitted plans to West Lindsey District Council (WLDC) for new housing on land west of Lancaster Green, in between the A631 and wedding and conference venue Hemswell Court.

The planning application says the development would be integrated with the rest of the village through ‘strong pedestrian connections’ and that it would ‘take reference from Hemswell Court to create a strong linear form of development’.

The houses would be clustered into blocks of two and three bedroom semi-detached properties and town houses - and would be mostly ‘starter’ homes.

TWD Developments’ planning statement said: “Hemswell Cliff is acknowledged as one of the district’s most deprived settlements and, like many of the redundant air bases, is in need of investment to address these socio-economic challenges.”

Hemswell Court declined to comment.

At the time of going to press WLDC councillor for Hemswell Paul Howitt-Cown had not responded to a request for a comment.
