A long established family haulage business in Caistor looks set to move after receiving council approval to redevelop its current location.

HC Wright and Sons Haulage has gained outline planning permission to build eight houses, subject to meeting certain conditions, at its site at The Mill, Whitegate Hill, Caistor.

The layout and design of the buildings must be approved by West Lindsey District Council. A water drainage scheme must also be developed to prevent an increased risk of flooding around the site. The council must also approve plans to deal with any soil contamination issues. A suitable roadway to serve the development must also be built, and a footpath between the roadway and existing footpath of Whitegate Hill must also be constructed.

When the plans were first submitted in June, business owner Jon Wright described the current site as an “eyesore” saying council staff had suggested housing for the brownfield site.

Last week, he told the Rasen Mail he had further meetings planned, which would soon give him a better idea as to when and how the development would proceed, along with the relocation of the haulage business.
