Caistor Yarborough Academy invited primary schools to take part in a themed activity day to commemorate the centenary of the start of World War One.

The children had great fun making ceramic poppies, singing WWI songs, cooking food from the war, a lesson on rationing and a drama workshop as well as a chance to experience the schools trench and to take cover when a gas bomb went off.

They also competed in a five a side football tournament set up by the FA to remember the 1914 Christmas Truce.

Yarborough students who attend cadets wore their uniforms or DMP kit and escorted groups of pupils throughout the day and also took on soldier roles remaining in character to create a unique experience for the primary pupils.
