Caistor Yarborough students had a visit from Humberside Engineering Training Association (HETA) and SMart Futures Supergrid for a Wind Energy day.

The students built turbines towers and blades, tested and modified their designs, developed a business model and finished by using remote energy data collection across the ten teams, each of which represented a European country, and fed their power into a virtual Supergrid.

Year 8 student Aimee Knight said: “I learned that there is a lot more to making a wind turbine than what I thought.

“The competitive aspect of the learning made it more fun and enjoyable to learn.”
