It was the end of an era at Brocklesby Park Primary School as they said goodbye to one of their long-serving members of staff.

Carol Spalding retired at the end of term after working at the school for 13 years.

She started at the school in September 2000 as a teaching assistant and midday supervisory assistant under the then headteacher Sue Daglish.

Since then, Carol has worked for a further six heads, albeit some were temporary acting roles between permanent appointments.

In 2009, Carol was appointed midday controller.

Over her time at the school, she has received numerous thank you letters from both appreciative parents and pupils, as well as departing staff and headteachers.

She is known as a dedicated TA and has demonstrated a brilliant rapport with the children in a caring and cheerful manner.

This was borne out at a recent Yarborough Academy Awards Evening when numerous pupils came running up to her with excitement and beaming smiles.

In recent years Carol has successfully worked with groups of children on Mental Maths and has enjoyed very positive feedback from Ofsted inspections.

Carol maintains links and interest with ex-pupils and will within the next few weeks be sending a 21st birthday card to one of her very first pupils.

In an assembly at the school, Carol was presented with chocolates, cards, earrings, a bracelet, necklace, scarf, notebook and many good wishes.
