SPORTING prowess won prizes at De Aston School’s annual sports awards evening.

Certificates were presented to those athletes who had represented the Market Rasen School over the last academic year.

But there were also a number of individual prizes handed out on Thursday, July 12, to recognise those pupils who had excelled in their field.

Nick Keast was presented with the Year 7 Sports Person of the Year Trophy, while Reuben Pritchard took the Year 8 Sports Person Prize, Charlotte Emmerson took the same gong for the Year 9 age group and James Fussey for Year 10.

Awards were also presented to Most Improved Rugby Player Jack Pearce and Outstanding Dancer of the Year Lorna–Jay Horstwood.

Michaela Goldring walked away with the Rick Freeman Award for Special Achievement while Amber Scales won The Ray Smart Award for Most Improved Performer in Year 8 Girl.

The final two awards of the evening were for pupils who had made an outstanding contribution to the school’s sports department, excelling in their own field while also helping or leading others.

The Outstanding Sporting Achievement in the School Award was presented to Rosie Bunney and 1st team rugby captain Liam Olley wnet home with The Phil Chapman Award for Outstanding Contribution to Sport at De Aston School.
